Are pets allowed on board?

Well-behaved dogs and cats are welcome to fly on BLADEone Flights for an extra fee (see above). To ensure the safety of all pets, guests, and employees, all pets must be securely leashed and/or contained in an approved pet carrier at all times and may not impede or obstruct the aisles. This includes all areas inside and outside the private terminal such as parking lots, on the tarmac, and while traveling to and from the jet.

Additionally, passengers must be able to maintain control of their pet at all times. Dogs or cats weighing up to 20 lbs must travel in an approved pet carrier (see below), and must remain in their pet carrier during taxi, take off, and landing. Dogs weighing over 20 lbs not kept in carriers must travel tethered to a seat that is purchased specifically for that pet. A passenger may travel with only one pet, per the guidelines below. BLADEone Flights are limited to carrying a maximum of two large (more than 65 pounds) dogs per flight, and a maximum of five (5) total pets per flight, in each case excluding trained service animals. Pets will be booked on a first-come, first-serve basis until the limit is reached. One Passenger may not bring both a pet and an infant on board without the assistance of a travel companion.

Please note that BLADEone Flights will not be able to carry pets in any cargo hold, and animals besides cats and dogs are not able to travel. A pet must be at least 6 months old and be capable of not relieving itself for the entire duration of the flight.

What is an approved pet carrier?

Pet carriers must measure less than 20”x12”x9” (L x W x H) and including the weight of the animal, must weigh less than 20 lbs total, and fit completely in the underseat storage area. Passengers are responsible for providing a pet carrier for their pet, and this pet carrier will count as a Passenger’s personal item. Pet carriers are not allowed on aircraft seats, unless a seat has been purchased for the pet.

Is there a separate charge for pets?

Yes. An extra seat must be purchased (at the currently available fare) for dogs weighing more than 20 lbs. For a pet traveling in a pet carrier, the charges set forth above based on your fare class will apply. In the case of international flights, additional charges may apply, and additional documentation may be required.

How do passengers book a pet?

Pets and their pet carrier weighing less than 20lbs may be booked while purchasing a ticket on Aero’s or Blade’s website or mobile app, and pets weighing more than 20lbs may be booked by contacting concierge@aero.com.

What other requirements are there for traveling with pets?

Passengers are responsible for providing proof at check-in of current vaccinations, certifications, and other documentation required by departure and destination countries. Aero, Blade, and Carrier will not be responsible for any costs incurred should the passenger not have obtained his/her animal's required health and vaccination requirements or other documentation for his/her destination. Failure to ensure that all proper steps have been taken and documentation provided may result in the passenger’s animal being placed in quarantine on arrival. Any costs related to the care of the passenger’s animal in quarantine, issued fines, and any fee associated with returning the animal to its origin will be the passenger’s responsibility.

Aero, Blade, and Carrier assume no liability for pet travelers, and in the event of any losses, sickness or injury, the passenger is fully responsible, including any reimbursements.

All pets must be domesticated, well-behaved and not aggressive toward humans or other dogs or cats. A pet that engages in behavior such as not responding to commands, scratching, barking, whining, growling, biting, jumping on passengers or crew members, relieving themselves in the aircraft or lounge may be denied boarding.

The passenger assumes full responsibility for the safety, health, well-being, and conduct of his/her pet, including the interaction of the pet with other passengers and crew members who may come in contact with the pet while on board the aircraft.

Pets cannot travel alone, and cannot travel with unaccompanied minors.

Traveling with Service Animals.

Carrier welcomes trained dogs as service animals (free of charge) provided a completed and signed Department of Transportation Service Animal Air Transportation Form is submitted to concierge@aero.com in advance of departure, confirming the dog is a trained service animal. The dog must also have ID, tag, and/or harnesses indicating that it is a trained service animal. Carrier’s hosts are trained to ask certain questions to determine if your animal is a service animal acceptable for travel. Please note, service animals in training, emotional support animals, and comfort animals may travel as pets, not as service animals.

The service animal must fit within a passenger’s seat area and be able to perform its duties at the seat location. They must remain on the floor throughout the flight and must never be in or blocking the aisle. If the animal is too large to fit under the seat or at the passenger’s feet, Carrier will accommodate the service animal in another location near the passenger if space is available (e.g., because the flight is not full). A trained service dog that does not fit within the handler's foot-space without obstructing an aisle or exit may travel in an adjacent seat purchased at the prevailing fare. We do not impose any additional service-animal fees. Seat-purchase requirements are determined case-by-case based on the animal's actual size and aircraft layout.

Passengers can book a service animal on Aero’s or Blade’s mobile app or website, or by contacting concierge@aero.com. Should a passenger have two service animals, Carrier will make every effort to accommodate. If the animal does not meet the qualifications to travel as a trained service animal, it may be eligible to travel under our general pet requirements assuming available capacity. The animal must be trained to behave in a public setting and must remain in control of the passenger at all times. Any threatening or disruptive behavior may result in denying travel to the service animal and passenger.

The combined total of pets in pet carriers, and pets occupying seats is limited to five (5). Reservations are accepted first-come, first-served until this limit is reached. Trained service animals do not count against this limit, and carriage of a trained service animal will not be refused because the limit has been reached.

Passengers with service animals will not be seated in emergency exit rows. Service animals may not obstruct an aisle or other area that must remain unobstructed in order to facilitate an emergency evacuation.

Passengers assume full responsibility for the conduct of his or her accompanying service animal. In the event Aero, Blade, or Carrier incurs any loss, damage, delay, expense, or legal liability of any kind in connection with the transport of such animal, passenger accepts full liability for and shall reimburse Aero, Blade, or Carrier for all such sums incurred.

Can I travel with an emotional support animal?

Emotional support animals do not qualify as service animals. The same fees, behavioral expectations, size and capacity limitations and carrier requirements outlined above that apply to pets apply to emotional support animals.
